5 Things to Know If You're Considering HomeRoom

1. How long does the screening process take?

Our screening process takes an average of 2-3 days (but can go more quickly if needed)

2. What date is the room available?

3. How many roommates are there and what type of people live there?

Community thrives with more perspectives and personalities - and our typical house hosts:

  • 4 or more coed roommates
  • Working professionals in their 20s & 30s - but we’re open to all
  • Are a mix of KC locals and recent college grads from both other states and other countries
4. Are utilities included in the price?

No. Utilities are not included in our listed room price.  Our amazing utilities and amenities package (all city utilities, maid service, 1GB fiber, laundry, yard care, exclusive event tickets) is $140/month per person on top of the listed rent price.

This amount is fixed and never goes up if rooms are empty.

5. What is expected of me as a member of HomeRoom?

We see our members as valuable partners in building the HomeRoom community and ask all members to partner with us by:

  • Interviewing their future housemates
  • Give in-person tours to their potential roommates
  • Respecting the other tenants (which includes keeping spaces clean!)
  • Actively communicate with our team about home maintenance issues so we can keep your home in amazing working order at all times.  This includes:
  • Logging maintenance issues quickly through the HomeRoom App
  • Setting up virtual maintenance calls with our ops team when issues arise
6. What is the deposit amount?

Our upfront deposit is equal to one month’s rent - $100 of which is a non-refundable turnover and cleaning fee.  For example, if the room you select is $550 per month to rent - then the deposit will be $550, with $450 of that being refundable at move-out.
